Privacy notice for the neurok.in sign-up

What we collect, and why
Your email address, so that we can tell you when neurok.in opens up for founding members, or when something else happens. Nothing else is sent: no newsletter, no marketing, only movement. Two optional answers if you give them: whether you are here as a person, an organisation or both, and what you would like neurok.in to be for you. They are used to shape what we build and who the founding members are, nothing else. Each sign-up and each confirmation sends the person running neurok.in a note with the time and those two answers, never your address.
Our lawful basis
Your consent, given by ticking the box on the form and then clicking the link in the confirmation email we send. We keep a record of when and how you consented, including the internet address the form and the confirmation click came from, because that is what shows the consent was yours.
Where it is kept
On our own server in the United Kingdom, encrypted to a key that is not on that server: it can add you to the list and delete you from it, but it cannot read an address back. Only the machine that sends the emails, also ours, holds the key. It is not shared with or sold to anyone. The one outside party is our email provider: the confirmation and news emails are sent from our own mailbox, news@neurok.in, through Proton Mail (Proton AG, Switzerland), which handles them in transit as any email provider does.
How long
Until you unsubscribe, or after 12 months in which we have sent you nothing, whichever comes first. An address that is never confirmed is deleted after 30 days.
Your rights
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your record. You can ask at any time to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, by writing to admin@neurok.in. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk.
Cookies and visit counting
This page sets no cookies. We count visits with GoatCounter running on our own server (stats.neurok.in): pages viewed, the site you came from, country, browser and screen size, as aggregate numbers. No cookies, no personal profile, no data to anyone else.
neurok.in is the trading name of Stephen Purkiss, a sole trader in England, and he is the controller of what you give us here. neurok.in is being formed as a multi-stakeholder co-operative. When that co-operative is registered it takes over as controller on the same terms, your consent carries across to it, and we will tell you when that happens.
